Tool #10

There are so many free educational applications that the students can utilize for example: to learn how to read maps and cardinal points they could use Google Earth. They can learn to read and spell through playing Hangman.

My students could utilize the iTouch or iPad to learn content through technology. They have games that help them learn how to spell, the state capitals and create figures with tangrams. It will be so awesome for the students because they will be having so much fun they will not even realize they are learning.

Tool #9

Jing is something that students would love. They would be able to communicate with students from other classes. They could actually see each other. One way that I would use JING in my classroom would be to have students from upper grades mentor/tutor some of my students.

I would utilize Skype by arranging authors read and discuss their stories with my students. We also have a unit in Social Studies around the world so I would allow my students to communicate with students from other countries. This way they can ask whatever they want to know about from that country. My class could share the projects we do in class with students from the district, the state, the nation, or the world and viceversa.

Tool #8

Como los niƱos aprenden a leer y a escribir

Teachers can view this video to learn new strategies and gain new ideas how children learn to read and write.

Jorge El curiouso

Children may view this video and then write about how Curious George is feeling or about his character traits. Children can also write a summary of the movie, create a new beginning, middle or end to this movie.

Tool #6

Wikis is a great way to have a class project going on. You can use it as a center for continuing a story, poem or discussion about one of our great American heroes. Students can also edit each others writing and explain why they did the editing. Teachers will be able to see the students thinking process. Our team members can use Wikis to discuss field trips, book studies, and possibly lesson plans.

Tool # 4

These google tools are great and exciting. We do not have to worry about e-mailing. We will be able to complete each others work if we want to work on something together from anywhere. This is so cool!!!! Google Reader is also fantastic because we will be able to keep up with world news or other personal interest real easy. It will also be beneficial for our students because they will be able to come to this site and do work. The teacher will be able to check who is doing the work and who is sharing with others. It will be very exciting for both teachers and students!!!!!

Tool # 5

I found that Diigo is a lot easier to navigate than Delicious. It will be very beneficial in my classroom because when I or my children find a good web-site we want to share with the rest of our classmates or with the rest of the 1st grade team we can just bookmark and nobody will have to be searching for the websites. They will be readily available.

Cats

If you want to know about cats, here is a great web-site.

more from www.Petplace.com

diigo bookmarking tagging

Here is a great web-site I found on Delicious for language games: http://pbskids.org/whiteboard/

This will be great to utilize with your active board too, have fun using them.

Tool #3.1

We study the life cycle of various insects. The learner can write about and experience they had with this insect or write about its life cycle.

Tool #3

The learner can utilize their imagination and write a story about this picture or any picture they post on their blog. This will add to the learning of each student because each student will come up with their own story by using their creativity.

Tool #2

I believe this is going to be a great tool for communicating with our students and fellow teachers.
It will bring us into the 21st century with technology. Our students will love this. We will learn a lot about our students. They will learn alot and be very prepared for the future. We will also learn a lot about what is going on in each others classes and how our fellow teachers think. I have visited and commented on various sites: (1)Teaching to Read, (2)My Blog, (3)My six year old student surprises, (4) 2nd Grade Blooger and (5) Mary-saurus.

Garza's Writers
